中国有些词，好象还真不太好翻译，兄系英语教授，就此拜首叩教。如下：
1. “裸官”。中共中央、国务院办公厅日前印发了《关于对配偶子女均已移居国（境）外的国家工作人员加强管理的暂行规定》，这一规定的实质性精神是要严查裸官，对家属移民未报告者（即裸官）将严厉追究责任。“裸官”想继续升官显然是比较困难的。
2. “N年一遇”。入夏以来洪水滚滚，有人把近几年媒体关于三峡防洪能力的新闻都找了出来，发现其防洪能力从“万年一遇”降格到“千年一遇”再降到“百年一遇”（有美女博客郑敏的截图为证），提出为了更精确地表述三峡的防洪能力，最好用“N年一遇”这个词。“N年一遇”使想找三峡茬儿的人无话可说了。
3. “喝茶”。这个词在网络上大约有四、五年的历史了吧。意思是如果某位公民在不该签字的一些声明、呼吁书上签字了的话，就有可能（并且08年为某件事签名者几乎是无一例外地）被热心于提供免费午餐的人请去喝茶，当然在茶馆里也有可能喝的是咖啡。“喝茶”的费用应该是可以报销的。
4. “通房大丫头”。最近看到一篇网文叫《毛泽东和他的“通房大丫头” 》，作者认为毛泽东一生“为革命奔波戎马倥偬，无暇顾及自己、顾及亲人，即便个人情感、儿女私情，也多为快餐式的”。他“正式的婚姻，应该只有两次。一次是与杨开慧，另一次即为贺子珍”。因此，如果“把杨开慧称作正夫人或大夫人，贺子珍则为少夫人”，而江青及江青以下者，只能称为“通房大丫头”。这“通房大丫头”看来还是个复数呢。
清扬兄如果假期时间相对富足，还能把以上每段的最后一句用你翻译出来词再进而进行整句翻译，当不胜感激。即：
“裸官”想继续升官显然是比较困难的。
“N年一遇”使想找三峡茬儿的人无话可说了。
“喝茶”的费用应该是可以报销的。
这“通房大丫头”看来还是个复数呢。

看了清扬兄的翻译，很受启发。看来，象“裸官”、“喝茶”这样的中国特色的词除了直译别无他法。你把“通房大丫头”译为“concubine-maid”很有创意！
一些具有中国文化特色的词，一般采用直译或解释性翻译。如“裸官”，在刚使用时，可在naked officials后面加上government officials who have their whole families immigrated abroad with themselves left behind；“喝茶”，“To be invited to drink tea” is a newly-made periphrase（委婉语） in present-day China, meaning “to be investigated”. 时间长了，国外读者也接受了。 |

另外，俺觉得樱花七日译的“裸官”还是蛮不错的，就是括号里的补充说明不能少。不过，你把officials拼错为 officals了 |

3.“喝茶” get the opinions (of people) by invitation for tea 或者 cross-examine by asking specific questions
4. “通房大丫头” "Fast-consuming girls"或者是Mao‘s concubines
句子翻译
1.Obviously,it's rather difficult for "naked officals" to get promoted.
2.People have no further comment on Three Gorges Dam in terms of "Once-in-N-years" flood.
3.The cost of "Invitation for tea" may be sent in account.
4."Fast-consuming girls"is definitely used in the plural form. |
